The system reduces the emission of particulate matter, odors and ammonia from pig farms. The principle of operation is based on the hydrolysis of soluble gaseous compounds and captured dust on the one hand, and on the decomposition of odorous compounds and ammonia by nitrogen-fixing bacteria that grow naturally in the polypropylene sponge mesh on the other hand.
A pump draws water from the tank below the washing system and continuously sprinkles the low wind resistance polypropylene sponge mesh (through which the gas from the chamber passes). The gas from the sponge mesh passes through a water curtain that strips the gas. The sponge mesh increases the contact time between the outgoing gas and the water and facilitates the conversion of ammonia from a gas to a liquid (from NH3 to NH4).
Water recovery at the outlet of the washing system collects suspended water droplets and splits the evaporated water into two parts.
